Over four months, the Improve Education Fund portfolio expanded access to literacy, classroom resources, education equity, and youth mental health around the world. Together, participating nonprofits reached millions of children and educators through literacy initiatives, classroom funding, advocacy, and mental health programs, helping students build foundational skills, supporting teachers, and advancing more equitable education systems.

Children’s Literacy at Scale
Literacy remained the foundation of the portfolio’s work. Room to Read reached more than 60 million children globally through literacy and girls’ education programs, while Reading Is Fundamental celebrated 60 years of helping children discover the joy of reading. DonorsChoose supported classroom libraries and book access through nationwide campaigns.
Classroom Funding & Teacher Support
DonorsChoose mobilized tens of thousands of donors through campaigns like #FillEveryShelf, STEAM Futures Week, and Teacher Appreciation Week, delivering millions of dollars in classroom supplies, books, technology, and learning resources to public schools.
Education Equity & Advocacy
EdTrust celebrated its 30th anniversary while continuing national advocacy for equitable education policies. Throughout the quarter, the organization engaged lawmakers, launched leadership programs, and defended public education funding and student opportunity.
Girls’ Education
Room to Read continued expanding opportunities for girls through education and life skills programming, reaching more than 615,000 adolescents while supporting high rates of grade advancement, graduation, and future employment.
Youth Mental Health
Child Mind Institute expanded school-based mental health programming and digital tools, reaching more than 1.8 million students across 8,400 schools while growing use of its Mirror app and introducing new global youth mental health initiatives.
